Yamal Project FWP1E First Steel Cutting Ceremony

2016-09-21
On 21st Sep 2016, Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW) held their inauguration of FWP1E of Yamal LNG Project with First Steel Cutting Ceremony in Qingdao, China.

Client representatives from Yamgaz (Joint Venture of Technip, JGC and Chiyoda) and Yamal LNG (a Joint Venture of Novatek, Total and CNPC) were in attendance for the ceremony, as well as QMW General Manager and FWP1E Project Management.

FWP1E contract is being performed in the QMW fabrication facility in Qingdao, China and commenced in third quarter of 2016. QMW’s work scope includes fabrication engineering, procurement, fabrication, packing and shipment of Russia’s Yamal Project FWP1E package with total weight of 1895MT.

Strict standards must be followed during design, construction, operation and maintenance to meet Yamal’s Arctic extremely harsh natural environment in Russia, where the modules are to be assembled. FWP1E is not the first Yamal Package QMW has undertaken. MWP8 Yamal LNG Project fractionation modules were successfully delivered ahead of schedule in July 2016 with excellent safety and quality performance, which demonstrated QMW has adequate ability for successful execution of the FWP1E package.
